The Basic Claims Examiner Certification Training Course™ (CompCourse™)

ComPro, Inc's. Basic Claims Examiner Certification Training Course (CompCourse™) is an educational introduction covering the wide range of topics pertinent to examining Oregon workers' compensation claims. It's designed intent is to promote emphasis on the knowledge and application of Oregon Revised Statutes (laws), Oregon Administrative Rules (rules), Bulletins, and Forms.

A student who successfully completes the CompCourse™ and passes the Final Exam will not only be eligible for certification to examine Oregon workers' compensation claims, but also be educated in the foundational and historical trends of the industry. Seasoned claims professionals also will find their knowledge and skills honed by the CompCourse™ which provides a review of contemporary legislative, administrative and judicial changes.

The CompCourse™ consists of eleven comprehensive lesson assignments, each followed by a lesson examination consisting of true/false, multiple choice and brief essay questions which upon completion are submitted to the instructor for evaluation. The lesson examinations are then reviewed for correctness, clarity and recognition of statute, rule and bulletin references.

The eleven lesson subjects are as follows:

Lesson 1: - Coverage - "Who's Involved?"
Lesson 2: - Claims Administration - Part One
Lesson 3: - Claims Administration - Part Two
Lesson 4: - Medical Services - Part One
Lesson 5: - Medical Services - Part Two
Lesson 6: - Independent Medical Examination
Lesson 7: - Closure of Claims
Lesson 8: - Legal Issues
Lesson 9: - Worker Benefit Funds
Lesson 10: - Vocational Assistance
Lesson 11: - Course Overview

Graded lesson exams are useful as an additional training tool and are returned to the student for review of the instructor's comments. Following satisfactory completion of the ten lesson assignments, a timed final examination must be completed with a passing grade of 80%. The final examination consists of 85 true/false, multiple choice and brief essay questions relating to the subjects covered in the CompCourse™. The student is permitted to use all course materials for reference while completing the four-hour final examination.
